Because our students are minors (ages 15-17), we take extra care to safeguard their personal information. Student Information (collected with parent/guardian consent):
- Student name and date of birth
- Home address (for lesson pickup/drop-off)

4. SMS/Text Message Data
Phone Number Collection & Use: We collect phone numbers from parents/guardians during enrollment. When you opt in to receive SMS/text messages, your phone number is used to send program-related communications including lesson reminders, instructor updates, grant notifications, and scheduling communications.
No Sharing or Selling: Your mobile information — including your phone number and SMS opt-in consent data — will not be shared with or sold to third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. We use your phone number solely to deliver the SMS communications you have consented to receive as part of our driver education program.

Opt-Out: You may opt out of SMS/text messages at any time by texting STOP. Once you opt out, you will no longer receive text messages from us unless you opt in again. Opting out of SMS does not affect your enrollment or access to our services.

Because our students are minors, we apply heightened protections to their personal data:
- Parental Consent: We collect student information only after a parent or legal guardian has completed enrollment and accepted our terms

Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT):
- Student completion records as required by WisDOT for driver education certification
- Financial information for WisDOT Driver Education Grant administration (for grant-funded students only)
Service Providers:

- Email Service Provider: For sending transactional communications (lesson reports, schedule updates)
- Authentication Provider: For secure login services
Instructors:
Assigned instructors have access to the student's name, pickup address, permit status, and lesson schedule as needed to provide instruction.

10. Data Retention
We retain information according to the following schedule:
- Student completion records: Retained as required by WisDOT regulations (minimum 3 years after program completion)

- Account and contact information: Until deletion is requested or 2 years after program completion, whichever comes first
- Classroom progress data: 1 year after program completion
- Technical logs: 90 days
After the retention period, data is securely deleted or anonymized.
